Program structure
The program is divided into two main parts:
Foundation Year (2 semesters): Focuses on building a solid foundation through courses in English, German, Engineering Mathematics, Chemistry - Physics, Informatics, and Introduction to Mechatronics. After this year, students need to achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher to continue their specialization studies.
Specialization Years (6 semesters): This phase includes in-depth programs with courses ranging from Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Design, and Programming to specialized courses. Students can choose one of three main tracks:
- Mechatronics Engineering for Drive Dynamics
- Mechatronics Engineering for Automobile and Aeronautical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering for Robotics
Additionally, students will participate in a company internship (at least 6 weeks) and complete a graduation thesis with a real-world model, ensuring the application of theory into practice.
Entry requirements
1. Academic requirements: Depend on the admission method
2. English requirements:
Must meet one of the following conditions:
• International certificate: Academic IELTS ≥5.0 (valid at the time of application) or equivalent (see Appendix 1 of VGU's admission regulations).
• VGU English test: Pass the test including 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing.
• Average English score: Three years of high school with an average score of ≥7.5/10 (applies to Methods 2 & 5).
Cases exempt from English requirements:
• Applicants from countries where English is the official language (see Appendix 2).
• Applicants who graduated from an international high school program taught and assessed entirely in English (a confirmation letter from the school is required).
Career prospects
With a degree accredited according to European training quality standards, students can work and continue studying not only domestically but also globally.
Career prospects in the field of Mechatronics Engineering are extensive and fully meet modern demands, including:
- Automotive engineering
- Aerospace engineering
- Drive dynamics design engineering
- Robotics and automation
- Semiconductor technology
- Artificial intelligence (AI)
- Precision and high-performance mechanical-electrical design
- Integrated control systems, flexible manufacturing

Overview
The Mechatronics Engineering (MEC) program at VGU, in collaboration with the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg), offers an opportunity to study according to international standards.
The program proudly provides a modern knowledge foundation, closely integrating Mechanics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Information Technology, equipping students with both theoretical and practical skills. Upon graduation, students are not only ready to face challenges in the modern industry but also capable of pursuing academic research and development at a higher level.
The program is designed with sustainability in mind, using green energy and environmentally friendly practices. Students can choose from one of three majors:
- Mechatronics Engineering for drive dynamics
- Mechatronics Engineering for automobile and aeronautical engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering for robotics
These majors meet the booming demand for electric automobiles, artificial intelligence, and smart robotics in the future.
